About Tunen
Tunen is a venture-backed startup. Our mission is to take the friction out of collecting farm data, so it can be used to build foundational agricultural datasets.
We build for farmers, equipment makers (OEMs) and food manufacturers. The team is small and growing quickly.

Manage and lead one of Tunen's most important projects. You report directly to the founders, join a team of four and manage it. The project covers the app farmers use every day, our real-time sensor processing pipeline, real-time two-way sync with partner platforms, and our in-house domain-specific LLM chat and harness product.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Own the reliability of the live product, and set up the on-call rotation and incident process behind it.
- Lead the real-time two-way sync with partner platforms. The same record can change on both sides and is used for compliance, so nothing can be lost, duplicated or silently overwritten. The patterns you set here carry over to the integrations that follow.
- Keep background GPS tracking reliable on Android and iOS, against power management built to stop it, along with the pipeline that turns those traces into work done per field.
- Shape the harness around our agronomic assistant, where a confident wrong answer does more harm than none.
- Help grow the team from four to eight by screening, interviewing and onboarding junior and mid-level engineers.
- Set how the team works: code review, quality and testing requirements, and practices for LLM-generated code that make engineers faster and raise code quality.
- Set engineering direction, and have nuanced conversations about the pros and cons of different designs.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR- Six or more years building software, at least two of them leading engineers while still shipping yourself.
- An understanding of full-stack development, with years of building and maintaining Python services in production in the cloud.
- You have spent the last few years working with language models as part of how you write code.
- Rigorous and opinionated. You turn theory into working software and challenge decisions in the open.
- You have grown a team before and know how to find, screen and interview candidates.
- In Madrid, or willing to move there.
- Proficient in English.
NICE TO HAVE- Flutter or another mobile stack. Native Android or iOS background location and foreground services are ideal.
- Geospatial data: GPS traces, field boundaries, satellite imagery.
- Agriculture, or any domain where the data comes from people who do not sit at desks: manufacturing, medicine, construction.
WHAT WE OFFER- Base salary in the top 10% for lead engineers in Madrid.

Be the principal engineer on one of Tunen's new live projects, reporting directly to the founders. The project is a backend that processes unstructured farm data at scale into clean, domain-valid structured outputs, and a web application where users review and correct what it produces.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Build the review application where people check what our engine extracted from farm documents never meant to be read by software. Models can be wrong in ways that look right, so doubtful values have to be easy to find and corrections fast across large batches.
- Make one interface work across different customers and parts of agriculture, without a new screen for each.
- Own the project: you are accountable for the reliability, maintainability and continued development of the application.
- Collaborate on the Python data extraction pipeline behind it.
- Review code and learn from the reviews you get.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR- Three or more years building and running software in production.
- You ship end to end and own the result.
- Python and React experience.
- You work with language models as part of how you write code, professionally.
- Some UX and UI expertise.
- On site in Madrid.
- Proficient in English.
NICE TO HAVE- You have worked with LLM APIs and built products on them.
- You have onboarded or managed another engineer.

Own the backend of one of Tunen's new live products, reporting directly to the founders. It processes unstructured farm data at scale and produces clean, domain-valid structured outputs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Own the parser that turns farm documents never meant to be read by software into structured data that has to hold up agronomically, not just parse. You are accountable for its reliability, maintainability and continued development.
- Make one parser serve different customers and parts of agriculture, configured per domain rather than copied per customer.
- Own extraction quality: the evaluation sets, the metrics, and the call on whether a model or prompt change is actually better.
- Turn domain and product requirements into data contracts and agronomic rules, so a value that cannot be true on a farm is rejected even when it is well formed.
- Build new features and fix bugs in the existing Python codebase, including groundwork for a new project that optimises agricultural processes with sensor data.
- Review code and learn from the reviews you get.

WHAT YOU'LL DO- Be the person our farmers work with, from onboarding onwards.
- Watch how they actually use the product, on the farm and in the data.
- Turn what you hear and see into tickets and priorities the team can act on.
- Travel to farms regularly; the rest is remote.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR- An agronomy degree or equivalent training, with exposure to dairy.
- You have worked on a farm and know the season from the inside.
- Fluent German and working English.
- Based in Germany, and happy on the road.
